Privacy Policy

This policy describes data collected when Caldwell County Court Docket is used, how that data is handled, and the limited circumstances in which it may be shared.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

When a name or case number is entered into a search tool, the entry is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and returns any result it makes available. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If we receive an email message, we retain it to respond to the sender. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Like most websites, the site may receive technical information when a page is loaded. That information can include:

  • The IP address assigned to the device
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • The referring site, when one is provided
  • Dates and times of page requests

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored by a browser. We may use them and aggregated analytics data to understand traffic patterns, page performance, and technical errors. Browser controls can block cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.

What We Do With This Data

Technical and submitted information may be used for ordinary site operations, including:

  • Keeping pages available and improving load performance
  • Passing a submitted search to the relevant partner service
  • Assessing which pages visitors use and where technical problems occur
  • Diagnosing and correcting site errors
  • Displaying advertising that may be interest-based

No Court-Record Data on File

Caldwell County Court Docket does not host, compile, sell, or maintain a database of court dockets or personal case-record information. It provides general information about the Caldwell County Clerk of Superior Court, the North Carolina General Court of Justice in Caldwell County, and the North Carolina eCourts Portal.

North Carolina court-record access is not a promise that every case or document can be viewed. G.S. 7A-109 directs clerks to maintain court records, files, dockets, and indexes and allows ordinary-hours public access unless law limits access. Juvenile records are protected by G.S. 7B-3000, and disclosure of expunged records is limited by G.S. 15A-151.

Third-Party Search Partners

Search tools appearing elsewhere on the site are operated by outside companies. Information entered into one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing practices. We do not control those practices.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Caldwell Clerk's official court pages, the North Carolina eCourts Portal, court calendars, and other outside resources. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy practices apply. Read those practices before giving a destination personal information.

Advertising partners may also collect activity across websites for advertising purposes. That activity takes place through their systems rather than ours.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Information may be shared only with the types of recipients needed for the practices described here:

  • Search providers handling a query entered into their tool
  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks placing ads on the site
  • Government or law-enforcement entities when a valid legal order requires disclosure

How We Protect Your Data

We use ordinary security practices intended to protect information we collect. Internet transmission and storage cannot be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise that a security incident will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified in a message or submission, it will be deleted as appropriate.

Your Data Rights

This policy describes the practices of a private reference site. It does not create a separate North Carolina court-record access right. For Caldwell court files, public access is controlled by G.S. 7A-109 and applicable confidentiality rules, rather than by this policy or a general claim that all records are public.

Subject to applicable law and to the information we retain, a visitor may ask us to:

  • Provide a copy of information held about that visitor
  • Correct information that is inaccurate
  • Delete information that should no longer be retained
  • Stop certain processing where an applicable legal right requires it

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy. A revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date.

Effective date: August 31, 2026
